Milovan Rajevac will spend time in Europe next week before deciding on his final squad for Ghana's crucial World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in Accra.
The Black Stars who are third in Group 5 behind Libya and Gabon need a win to keep alive not just their 2010 Nations Cup hopes but their 2010 World Cup hopes alive too and the Serbian is leaving nothing to chance.
John Mensah has played two matches for Lyon at the left back and it is better to watch him play in that position
Rajevac is not planning extensive changes to the squad he used for the away defeat to Libya but says he wants to take a closer look at players who have been out of the squad for one reason or the other.
He will thus travel to Holland, France and Germany to observe players with John Mensah and striker Matthew Amoah prime on the agenda.
The trip has its critics who suggest it will not take an expensive three-country tour to figure out whether John Mensah or Matthew Amoah are good enough for the Black Stars but Rajevac says he prefers to see those players live than watch them on TV or monitor them on websites in order to make his judgment.
"I will also observe players who have been out of the team lately for one reason or the other," he told the Ghana News Agency.
"John Mensah has played two matches for Lyon at the left back and it is better to watch him play in that position," he said.
Ghana's game against Lesotho is on October 11 which leaves the Serbian with little time for his observation.
