Eritrea: President Inspects Condition of Farms in Gash-Barka Region

Barentu — President Isaias Afwerki inspected the condition of farms in Gash-Barka region and the experimental Jatrofa trees planted in the Barentu reserve area. More than 5,500 tree seedlings of this type have been planted through the participants of the Summer Work Program which could serve as a source of energy.

Reports indicated that so far about 29,000 seedlings of the tree have been planted and that the plantation is bearing fruit. There are also plans to prepare about 24,000 Jatrofa tree seedlings.
