Nigeria: Gwagwalada Mosque Construction Gets N .5 Million Boost

The Senator representing the FCT in the National Assembly, Senator Sidi Ali, has called on Muslims to sustain their current devotion to Allah during the month of Ramadan and the forthcoming Sallah celebrations.

Ali made these call in a special Ramadan message during a lecture organised by the Ansar-ud-deen Society of Nigeria, Gwagwalada branch, Federal Capital Territory.

The Senator, however, commended the society for the progress so far on its on-going Ansar-ud-deen mosque project and pledged to support the project with N500, 000.

Represented by his aide, Malam Mohammed Umar Ziko, Senator Sidi Ali stated that he has embarked programmes that will promote unity and peaceful co-existence among various religious, ethnic and political groups in the FCT.

In his remarks, the Minister of the Society, Imam Jamaldeen Bakare, reminded Muslims of the significance of Zakatul-Fitr and urged them to purify their fasting with alms giving.

The Chairman, Bwari Area Council, Isah Dara Bwari, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Islamic Affairs, Mallam Mogaji Yakubu, noted with satisfaction, the prevailing tolerance and understanding among religious groups in the FCT and called for its sustenance and also promised to assist the society to realize its objectives.

While responding, the Acting Chairman of the Society, Alh Abdurahaman Jimoh, said in line with popular demands, efforts were on to upgrade the Ansar-ud-deen Arabic school to an Islamic Academy and solicited the support of the Muslim Ummah to facilitate the completion of the society's mosque in Gwagwalada.

Earlier, the Guest lecturer, Ustaz Abdulazeez Alokolodo from Bida, Niger state, had stated that for Muslims to derive the blessings of Ramadan, they should not return to vices abandoned during the Ramadan but be guided by the dictates of the Holy Quran and Hadith.
