26 September 2008

Lagos — Bellview Airlines commences schedule flight operations between Lagos and the Abdul Azzez International Airport in the Saudi city of Jeddah, after meeting requirements for flights rights set by the authorities.

While announcing the "new package" in a statement in Lagos, the Management of the airline said "This is first and only direct flight between Lagos and destinations in the Saudi Kingdom. Before now, passengers have had to travel through third countries, as through Dubai, to Jeddah.

"So, Bellview offers the first and convenient non stop advantage on flights between Lagos and Jeddah to Nigerians and Saudis at the same time."

While stressing the airline's plans to add Abuja in the FCT as second departure airport in future, the statement continued, "our experience inspired us to answer the need more seats on the Lagos-Jeddah route. The need has always been there. Now that we have demonstrated that the time is right, we have plans to have flights departures from Abuja direct to Jeddah very soon."

The Lagos - Jeddah service opens with three weekly flights with flight days on Monday, Thursday and Friday. While Jeddah - Lagos return flights are on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

The enthusiasm with which passengers have greeted the new Bellview Jeddah service, has been attributed to travellers yearning to have a schedule non stop flights from Nigerian airports to destinations in Saudi Arabia. The new Bellview service, a pioneering initiative, ensures that Saudi bound passengers travel with utmost convenience, saving time and cost through non stop flights.

"The schedule flight service is a marked improvement on our commitment to the peoples of both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia as the cultural exchanges between them grow through business and religious travel," the airline noted

Bellview, the leading Regional airline on the West Coast, currently operates in 14 West and Central and South African cities; effectively making Lagos the hob of regional air travels in sub-Saharan Africa. The airline, which remains the only privately owned and truly Nigerian flag carrier, currently operate a Lagos - London-Heathrow flight everyday except Mondays.
