Lagosians will heave a sigh of relief Monday when the third Mainland bridge which was closed to traffic on August 2, 2008 for critical repairs re-opens at midnight on Sunday.
According to a release signed by assistant director press and public relations in the ministry of transport, Mr. Lawrence Ohabo, the minister, Mrs. Die Zani Allison-Madueke made this disclosure in a conference where she affirmed that the rehabilitation work on the bridge had been fully completed ahead of schedule.
Ojabo who expressed gratitude to agencies such as the Lagos State government, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC the contractors, Messrs Borini Porno, Chevron, Shell, AG Leventis and the Unites States embassy for their contribution in the project said the ministry would return to the bridge within the next one year to do some extended work.
