Kigali — The tyrannical rule of Ignace Beraho at Rwanda National Olympic Committee (RNOC) is finally set to come to an end after serving two four-year terms at the helm of the national sports committee.

In a rare interview with Times Sport Beraho revealed that he won't be seeking a third-term in office after a difficult eight years at the helm. However, the media foe sports boss hinted he has intentions of serving Rwandan sports in another capacity.

"I must abide with the election rules stated in the governing structures of the RNOC. I can't go beyond the two-term limit because am the one who inspired this rule to take its effect."

"Everybody willing to aspire for the presidency will have to prove his/her capacity in order to be nominated for election due early next year," Beraho said.

Why people awaken during the elections period?

The veteran administrator wondered why everybody is stimulated by the RNOC elections which are near.

He said, "Ain't bothered about seeking re-election but I will continue to lend a helping hand in the sport sector of Rwanda".

"There are no political ambitions in Rwanda's Olympic Committee and we work voluntarily but several people are mistaking this office as a money-earning agency," Beraho said, adding that sports is both his belief and life.

"I will protect the Olympic values and continue to represent Rwanda in the Olympic family," Beraho said, adding that his final aim is to produce an Olympic athlete.

"I have tried my best in the past two-terms to produce an Olympic athlete and though I have not been able to achieve my dream, it's not the end, the future is still ripe."

Beraho has embarked on coaching national athletes to realise his dream during the 2012 London Games. Some of the athletes under his guidance include Sylvain Rukundo and marathon runner Epiphanie Nyirabarame.
