In-depth analysis is not investigative reporting. That is where many people -so called journalists too- get it all wrong. In-depth reporting is more of interpretative which focuses more on the why of a subject matter.

Investigative reporting is deduced to be a step higher than that as it tends to unravel any misdoing that is being covered up by an individual or a group of people.
