Nigeria: Lawmaker Urges Residents On Religious Co-Existence

The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, Senator Sidi Ali has emphasised the need for religious co-existence in the territory.

Speaking during his special Ramadan message in a lecture organised by the Ansar-ud-deen society of Nigeria, Gwagwalada branch, the senator who was represented by his aide, Malam Mohammed Umar Ziko, disclosed that he has embarked on programmes that will promote unity and peaceful co-existence among various religious, ethnic and political group in FCT.

He called on Muslim faithful to sustain their current devotion to Allah during the period of Ramadan and Sallah festivities in order to continue enjoying the blessing of Allah.

Alli however, commended the society for the progress made so far on its on-going Ansar-ud-deen Mosque project and pledged to support the project with N500,000.

In his speech, the executive chairman of Bwari Area Council, who was represented by his special adviser on Islamic Affairs, expressed satisfaction with the prevailing tolerance and understanding among religious groups in the FCT and called for its sustenance. He further pledged to support the society in achieving its objectives.

In his remark, the minister of the society, Iman Jamaldeen Bakare, reminded Muslims of the significance of Zakatulfitr and urged them to purify their fasting with alms giving.
