FC Lubabu were Saturday crowned champions of Kenema in the Zain mobile company regional football league after defeating Central One FC 5-4 on post game penalties.
Both sides qualified for the finals after putting up impressive performances in the semi-finals. The finals was striking too even though the two teams played on a wet pitch.
FC Lubabu would have taken the lead earlier in the first half of the match through striker, Alpha Sesay but he failed to convert three golden opportunities to goals.
A great opportunity came the way of Central One in the last few minutes of the first half and striker Ibrahim Sesay's shot which had already passed FC Lubabu goalkeeper was stopped by the wet pitch.
The victory saw FC Lubabu win the million Leones cash prize, a non-refundable silver trophy and a set of vests with Zain logo.
Zain's regional manager, Yusiph Bockarie told Concord Sports that he was impressed by the performance of all the teams that participated in the week-long competition adding that Zain has succeeded in spotting young talents.
Being a youthful brand, Bockarie said, Zain mobile company will always move in its drive to associate with the youths.
"Zain is a youthful brand and because we at Zain want the youths to know that we are always there for them, we will always create such competition for them," Bockarie said.
On the other hand, the finals in Bo -between Nortigal Forest and Diamond Stars- was postponed after both sides ended the match in a goalless draw and neither of them got a win after 3:3 penalties.
