Sierra Leone: Zain Beautifies Nursing Mothers in Makeni, Kono

The leading mobile network in the country, Zain Sierra Leone over the weekend brought smiles once again on the faces of 14 nursing mothers in Makeni and Kono as it completed its 'Zain babies' presentation in the country.

The presentation ceremony which climaxed in Kono saw the end of the promotion country wide after similar editions have been held in Freetown, Bo and Kenema.

While making the presentation, Zain's media and communication executive, June-Rose Johnson said that the donation is part of their re-branding process, adding that similar donations have been made in other district headquarter towns.

She revealed that the 'Zain babies' recognition was done for all babies that were born on August 1st - the date the telecom company re-branded from Celtel to Zain, noting that the names of the children were obtained from recognized government hospitals.

Dr. Tamba Lebbie from the government hospital in Kono said such donation has never been done in the history of Kono noting that the hospital is there for all to utilize, especially the pregnant mothers.

Receiving the gifts, mothers expressed thanks and appreciation to Zain SL for the donation. They noted that they would use the gifts wisely.

The GSM company's media and communication officer, Ann Marie Ansumana, said as the name Zain implies beauty the company is always willing to beautify the country and its subscribers.

She said one of the reasons Zain was re-branded is for the company to be a single brand and become one of the leading mobile communication company in the world.

Beneficiary mothers in Makeni include Isatu Gborie, Aminata Conteh, Salamatu Bangura, Hawa Sesay, Margaret Koroma, Isatu Jalloh and Memunatu Marco.

Hawa Kanu was presented with Le 250,000 even though she lost her child.
