Nigeria: Wafu Tourney - LOC Visits Uduaghan

The Local Organising Committee for the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) men under-20 Football tournament, holding in Delta State, Nigeria between November 30 and December 14 have con-cluded plans to pay a courtesy visit on the sports-loving Gover-nor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Tournament Director, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme disclosed that the visit will take place on October 8 at the government house in Asaba and WAFU Pre-sident, Dr Amos Adamu has also confirmed that he will be in the entourage.

The visit will provide the Committee an opportunity to carry out an on-the-spot assess-ment of facilitie"s on ground at some of the venues designated to host the two weeks Champion-ship and we are all long forward to it", Ikpeme explained.

Some of the Sub-Committees, including Accommodation, Me-dia and Technical are also expec-ted to use the opportunity to fa-miliarise themselves with their duty positions and as well as the facilities available at the host venue.

Interestingly, the LOC will be holding a very crucial meeting in Delta State on October 8, same day of the visit, with all the Sub-Committee Chairmen expected to address the LOC on the extent of their preparation so far.

President of the West African Football Union, Dr Amos Adamu over the weekend confirmed that he will be physically present with members of the LOC on the courtesy visit to Dr Uduaghan.

"We have received confirma-tion from the WAFU President, Dr Amos Adamu that he will be present on the visit. He is very excited about the visit because he intends to use it to discuss very crucial issues with the host governor, whose love for sports is simply unmatchable", said Ikpeme.

The Vice Chairman of the LOC and Chairman of the Accommo-dation Sub-Committee, Pinnick Amaju is already on ground to facilitate the visit. Amaju, who is also the Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission has commu-nicated to the Secretariat of the LOC the readiness of govern-ment house to receive the LOC.
