The management of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, has awarded a N215 million contract for the construction of a new Senate building at the university's permanent site.
The university's news bulletin dated Sept. 9, 2008 made available to newsmen in Minna, said that the Federal Executive Council has approved the award of the contract.
The project has been stalled since 1993.
It said that the university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Audu, has stressed the importance of the early completion of the building due to its strategic importance to the university.
Audu urged the contractor, Messrs DEKIT Construction Ltd., to ensure that quality work was done on the edifice.
Audu said that the university's management was committed to the early completion of the project and would fully mobilise the contractor for that purpose.
A Director of the company, Mr Oladele Taiwo, was also quoted to have assured the management of the early completion of the edifice without compromising standards.
The university has also inaugurated its 15 hectare farmland to increase its revenue yielding ventures.
