Grinding machine operators in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, are making brisk business as Muslim faithfuls celebrate Sallah to mark the end of the Ramadan fast.

Our reporter who observed the situation saw hordes of customers at the operator's stand waiting for their turns.

Some of the operators who spoke to City News said they are happy about it, saying "this is their turn to make much profit".

An operator Chinonso Uzor, who grinds items at Dutse market, said this is their time to make money due to the increasing number of customers who patronise them to grind items.

"As you know this is Sallah period and every Muslim will like to cook stew for the family and well wishers so they troop to the market to buy tomatoes and they have to grind them. You can see the people waiting for me now," he said.

Another operator, Mama Eze, said Sallah period is their turn because customers who usually use blender to blend tomatoes now come to them due to the quantity they have to grind.

She observed that during the Ramadan fast, fruits and grains sellers were making much profit, adding that Sallah period is their turn too.

She however thanked God for the festive period, saying that she smiles home with reasonable money at the end of the day. "If other days are like this period, there would have been no reason for us to complain of low patronage, "he said.
