Ilorin — The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has called on local government chairmen in the emirate to provide land for the construction of five more cemeteries for the use of both Muslims and Christians alike.

The frontline monarch made the request in Ilorin yesterday in his address shortly after the two rakah Eid-el-Fitr prayers held at the township Eid praying ground.

The Emir of Ilorin who also used the opportunity to announce the appointment of Sheikh Salaudeen Apaokagi, as the new Mufti of Ilorin and Seikh Temirin as the Mukadan of Ilorin, asked God to grant the Governor of Kwara State, Dr Bukola Saraki, higher position of authority.

Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari who poured encomiums on Saraki over his "outstanding" performance since assumption of office in 2003, prayed Allah to "crown governor Saraki with the crown of Nigeria."

He expressed delight on the prevailing peace in the state particularly in Ilorin Emirate and enjoined his subjects to be more united.

Also in his sermon ,the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir Salihu who led the prayers, offered thanks to Allah for allowing muslims in the state to witness the end of the 30 day fasting.

He reminded muslims of the temporary nature of positions of authority and enjoined them to be of good and exemplary conduct whenever they "are holding forte as leaders or rulers."

The chief Imam admonished Muslims to fear Allah as well as exhibit acts of righteousness as they did during the fasting period.

At the Imam Issa-Elelu mosque along Murtala Mohammed road in the metropolis, the Chief Imam, Seikh Abdullahi Aliy-Kamal, reminded those in positions of authority that they would one-day account for their stewardship before their creator.

Explaining that power is transient just as life is ephemeral, the Imam, Aliy-Kamal, reminded them that "you will vacate your juicy political office one day whether or not you like it."

He therefore implored them to use their offices for the betterment of the people they rule and humanity at large.
