South Africa: Ramokala Hunts for More Goals

Platinum Stars left winger Tshepo Ramokala is hoping to continue with his goal scoring exploits when his team hosts Bidvest Wits at Olympia Park in Rustenburg this evening.

Ramokala has been in top form for the Tycoons since last season.

"We have been training very hard and are well prepared for Wits. We know they have been doing well as they have yet to lose a match of the season, so we will not take them lightly."

Last season, in the last meeting between the two, it was Ramokala who won it for his side when he netted the brace that saw Stars win 2-1.

However, a lot has since changed at the Clever Boys with a number of good players joining them.

Phikolethu Spelman is the club leading goal scorer with two goals in three matches and coach Rodger De Sa will be hoping that the striker will continue to wear his goal scoring boots.

Ramokala finished last season with six goals after being converted by coach Miguel Gamondi from left back to left wing.

He has already opened his goal scoring account for the 2008/09 season. He netted for his side in a 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows in Durban at the weekend.

"I have to work hard to reclaim my last year 's form. Last season I finished on six goals and this year I am looking at improving on that tally. I know I am a midfielder, but at the same time if I can get to goal scoring position, I have to take responsibility."

Ramokala says the club has high expectations this season.

"We cannot always only compete for the Top 8, we have to raise our standard and with capable players and good coach that we have, I am sure we will challenge for the league championship this season," he adds.
