South Africa: Parker Did 'Nothing Special'

1 October 2008

Bafana Bafana's two-goal hero in the international friendly against Malawi at Germiston Stadium last night, Bernard Parker, believes that his goals against the Flames will push him harder to gain a regular place in the Bafana squad.

Parker carried his current great form at Thanda Royal Zulu in the Absa Premiership into Bafana Bafana when brought smiles to South African fans after his brace helped the country beat Malawi 3-0.

The Amabhubesi striker, who has scored four goals in the league this season, also collected the Man of the Match award for his sterling performance.

I will keep doing the same thing at training and eat the same food as I have always been doing

Speaking to KickOff.com after the game, Parker said he is determined to maintain his form at both club and international level.

"There is no secret. I am still doing the same as I did last season and maybe my hard work at training is starting to pay dividends this season."

"I will keep doing the same thing at training and eat the same food as I have always been doing."

Bafana Bafana captain of the day Teko Modise said the squad did nothing special and played the same game that ended in a 1-0 defeat to Nigeria during the World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game in Port Elizabeth last month.

"We did nothing special against Malawi; we played good football just like we did against Nigeria.

"The only difference was that we were finally able to find the back of the net."
