Ghana: Marseille Extend Dede Contract

Ghana's Under-20 football side Captain, Andre Dede Ayew, has agreed to a one-year contract extension with French Ligue 1 side, Olympique Marseille.

The 18-year-old's contract was expected to expire at the end of 2010, but he will stay till the end of the 2011 season, at the Stade Velodrome.

Dede, son of football legend, Abedi Ayew Pele, has been in impressive form as a loanee at Lorient, in the Ligue 1.

He scored a goal at the weekend to help Lorient get a 1-1 draw away to Sochaux.

"Moving to Lorient has been good for me personally, and the contract renewal is a testimony and they want me back," Dede told Ghanasoccernet.com

"It means they are expecting me back after the loan deal, and that is good news to hear.

"I'm just 18, I shouldn't forget about that I started every early - I think in the Marseille squad I was the youngest to play in the Champions League.

"This move has helped me become a more consistent player. From what I have realised in this six-seven games, when you play regularly, it's not like coming on in 10 to 15 minutes.

"When I get back to the highest level, I will get used to playing 90 minutes and stuff, now that I have this opportunity."
