Luanda — The bishop of the United Methodist Church, Gaspar Domingos, said last Tuesday in Luanda that he hopes that with the swearing-in of the new Members of Parliament great benefits come along for Angolan people.
"It is an event that puts an end to an exhausting process that started in November 2006, with the registration of more than eight million voters countrywide who voted and believed in these men and women being sworn in", the cleric said to ANGOP.
On his turn, canon Apolónio Graciano of the Catholic Church said that the inauguration of those MPs will mark the history of the country and the life of the Angolan people.
Speaking to ANGOP, on the fringes of the swearing-in ceremony of the new MPs, the canon expressed his satisfaction and hope for a law-abiding state that is respected and makes all Angolan people proud of it.
"We are here to witness this historic moment", he said, further hoping that the MPs take this new phase with responsibility, for Angola to be more consolidated and gain the necessary respect as other countries have deserved.
