Algeria: Coach Keeps Tested Squad

The Algeria coach, Rabah Saadane, has decided not to make any changes in his tried and tested squad for their decisive FIFA World Cup African Zone, Group 6, qualifiers in Liberia next week, Group leaders, Algeria will make sure they progress to the next round if they beat bottom-placed Liberia on 11 October to ensure top place in the standings. They have a one-point lead over Senegal and Gambia.

Coach Rabah Saadane, who has already been to the FIFA World Cup finals as coach, has kept the Scottish-based midfielder, Brahim Hemdani, despite him not yet having played for Glasgow Rangers this season.

The JS Kabylie defender, Mohamed Rabie Meftah, has received a recall to the squad, having won the last of his four caps some 18 months ago.

The squad as announced by the coach include: Mohamed Benhamou (Mouloudia Alger), Lounes Gaouaoui (USM Annaba), Mohamed Ousserir (Chabab Belouizdad) as golakeepers.

Those stated for defence are: Nadir Belhadj (Portsmouth, England), Madjid Bougherra (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Rafik Halliche (Nacional, Portugal), Fethi Harek (SC Bastia, France), Adel Maïza (Al Ahli Jeddah, Saudi Arabia), Mohamed Meftah (JS Kabylie), Mehdi Meniri (SC Bastia, France), Slimane Raho (Entente Setif), Anthar Yahia (VfL Bochum, Germany), Samir Zaoui (ASO Chlef), Abderaouf Zarabi (Nimes, France).

Then in the midfield are: Cherif Abdeslam (JS Kabylie), Yacine Bezzaz (Valenciennes FC, France), Lamouri Djediat (Entente Setif), Brahim Hemdani (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), Khaled Lemmouchia (Entente Setif), Yazid Mansouri (Lorient, France), Karim Ziani (Olympique Marseille, France).

And the striker force include: Kamel Ghilas (Celta Vigo, Spain), Nabil Hemani (Entente Sétif), Rafik Saifi (Lorient, France), Mohamed Seguer (Entente Setif).
