Nigeria/Egypt: NFF Roots Support for Enyimba

2 October 2008

The Nigeria Football Federation has called on all football -loving Nigerians to do everything they can to support Aba giants, Enyimba FC, in Sunday's CAF Champions League semi final, first leg clash against Al Ahly of Egypt .

"We sincerely hope and pray that Nigerians get behind this team that has opportunity to bring us glory", said NFF President, Sani Lulu Abdullahi.

In a letter dated 26th September, 2008, and addressed to Enyimba FC chairman, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, the NFF congratulated Enyimba FC for reaching the semi finals and told them not to give up the fight for a place in the final so as to eventually climb the podium for the trophy and gold medals.

"This is to let you know that the Nigeria Football Federation is happy with your team's qualification for the semi finals of this year's CAF Champions League. Against the backdrop of poor outing in the earlier rounds of the two continental Club competitions by Nigeria's other flag -bearers. Your qualification feels us with joy and we wish and pray that you will do everything possible to scale the semi final hurdle against Al Ahly of Egypt.

We assure you that Members of the Federation will be on ground to give ample support to your team during the 1st leg, semi finals match, as well as the second leg match in Cairo .

We also pray that you will go on to eventually win the trophy, to make it a third triumph in Africa 's prime Club championship".
