Abuja — As the nation celebrates her 48th independence anniversary, a former Action Congress (AC) governorship aspirant in Edo State, Barrister Kenneth Imasuagbon, has called on the Federal Government to be more pro-active in creating jobs for youths.

Imasuagbon said "at 48, Nigeria has come of age, but a lot still needs to be done with the youth. Government must be more pro-active in creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths, while the education sector must be revitalised."

He called on Nigerians to give selfless service to the nation, adding that, "they must commit themselves to the advancement of peace and unity in the country."

He urged Niger Delta militants to stop "the incontinent resort to vandalism in the name of struggle for a better deal for the region, the oil resource in the region is given to all Nigerians and the world; and with understanding, the nation would achieve massive infrastructure development nationwide."

Imasuagbon commended government for the creation of Niger-Delta Ministry, declaring that "government should get the right people to man the Ministry, to ensure accountability."

He said, "efforts of government should reach the ordinary man on the street from Lagos to Yobe states. The roads must work. There must be collaborative efforts by all. At 48, my clarion call is that we should eschew evil and build a virile and indivisible nation that everybody will be proud of."
