Nigeria: Asaba Kids Want More Cowbell Action

2 October 2008

Lagos — The Asaba Zone of the Cowbell National U-16 Soccer Tournament may have come to an end, but the excitement and fun it generated will take a long time to forget.

Most of the kids that participated in the three-week competition have asked that the sponsors - Cowbell ensure that such events are organised more regularly.

Top scorer at the zone Onyeka Obaji said the tournament has provided young players with the opportunity to display their talents.

"I want to ask Cowbell to continue with this wonderful project and even do more for us. We will like to have this kind of competition more regularly."

Ebuka Ebi, a striker with third place winners Young Strikers also lauded Cowbell for it's genuine commitment to grassroots development.

"I know that apart from Asaba, Cowbell organised this kind of competition in Oyo, Lagos , Kano , Kaduna and Aba . I want to commend them for their genuine commitment to grassroots football. They (Cowbell) should not stop, they should continue to do more."

Morning Stars Academy won the Asaba Zone of the competition after a 1-0 victory over Global FC in the final.
