Nigeria: NFF Back Enyimba for Victory

2 October 2008

The Nigeria Football Federation have called on all football-loving Nigerians to do everything they can to support Enyimba in Sunday's Caf Champions League semifinal first leg clash against Al Ahly.

President of the Federation, Sani Lulu said he believes Nigerians would get behind Enyimba in full from now until they return victorious from the second leg of the match.

"We sincerely hope and pray that Nigerians get behind this team that has an opportunity to bring us glory," Sani Lulu Abdullahi said.

Lulu also sent a letter of congratulations to the club for getting to the semifinal of the competition and he advised them not to give up the fight for a place in the final and eventually the podium for the trophy and gold medals.

"This is to let you know that the Nigeria Football Federation is happy with your team's qualification for the semifinals of this year's Caf Champions League.

"Against the backdrop of poor outings in the earlier rounds of the two continental club competitions by Nigeria's other flag-bearers, your qualification fills us with joy and we wish and pray that you will do everything possible to scale the semi final hurdle against Al Ahly of Egypt," Lulu stated in the letter.

"We assure you that members of the Federation will be at the ground to give support to your team during the 1st leg, semifinal match, as well as the second leg match in Cairo.

"We also pray that you will go on to eventually win the trophy, to make it a third triumph in Africa's prime Club championship."
