Namibia: Bank Windhoek Serves Banking Cuisine at Show

2 October 2008

Windhoek — Instead of setting up a conventional bank stall at the Windhoek Show, Bank Windhoek opted to offer an array of mouth-watering cuisines in the form of services.

Bank Windhoek has employed a different and unique approach to this year's Windhoek Agricultural and Industrial Show, a proactive approach that entices visitors to interact with the bank' staff on a one-to-one basis.

The stall is designed as a restaurant, complete with menus, waiters, and a chef - who happens to be the teller at the stand's mini bank.

In the menu are the bank's products ranging from EasySave and Solo Account as appetisers, to Selekt and SeniorSave accounts as main courses. For dessert, the menu gives the option between notice deposits and home loans, while the SME loans and short-term insurance services are given as beverages and cellphone banking as side orders.

"This is a Namibian concept conceptualised and designed here in Namibia," says the Head of Corporate Communication and Social Investment at Bank Windhoek, Riaan van Rooyen.

After perusing through the menu, visitors are encouraged to fill in short forms with their interests and contact details. The information would be channelled to the branch near the client, which would then contact the client for an in-depth discussion.

Visitors who fill in the forms stand the chance of winning special prizes throughout the show.

Van Rooyen says the stand received about 80 people on Sunday alone.

"We are very happy with the results so far," said Van Rooyen.

The bank would only be able to reconcile the value of business created in about six weeks after the show.

The stand is also offering visitors the chance to buy their favourite corporate branded items.

In addition, the bank has seven mini-automated teller machines at various spots around the Windhoek Show grounds to help clients who need instant cash. The Cash Express machines are positioned in different halls to give clients quick and convenient access to cash. The mini-automatic teller machines (mini-ATM) are in addition to the ATM on Wheels, a larger ATM machine positioned at the entertainment area.
