Cameroon: Let «Broda» Win

Tche Irene Morikang

1 October 2008

Why are Cameroonians so excited about this year's US presidential election? Well, just listen to some of them talk and you would get some really absurd answers to this question. Let's start with the Obamas. We also have them in Cameroon; especially in the South and Centre Provinces. Our Obamas are excited because it is a namesake who is in the race. Some even claim the tough Obama is a "cousin in the village". You don't need to be in their shoes to imagine the pleasure to have "one of theirs" gunning for such a prestigious office.

Then, there is this other group of persons who think an Obama in the White House would mean some considerations for his other "brothers" who have been multiplying bush falling strategies, without success. Who would dare refuse a visa to the brother or namesake of the one in the highest office of the land? To such people, it is normal that when "Broda" is on the plum tree, his "relatives" can expect to eat ripe plums!

Do we say they should wait and see? Certain not. This is one area where dreams will never come true. Have they forgotten about the DNA thing and the likes? "Broda" alone cannot change the laws of the land. Nothing will change.

Tche Irene Morikong, Many things can change and many people can change things but the only thing that would probably not change is the nonsense you write about in the form of news. I suggest you endeavor to be creative.

Shocking that such an article found its way to a 'State Owned Newspaper!' The author is void of a proper vocabulary let alone a proper story to tell. Are you one of those Biya relatives whose only credential is that you are of the Bulu tribe? Nonesense!!!
