Nairobi — Three guns have been seized in the past week in a crackdown on game poachers in the district.
District commissioner Henry Ochaka said the rifles were used by poachers in a village on the outskirts of Wajir Town.
"The police, together with the provincial authority, netted the rifles. We have also recovered eight rounds of ammunition," said Mr Ochaka.
He said the operation followed a tip-off from the villagers, the majority of who are pastoralists.
He said the poachers mainly targeted animals giraffes and gazelles for meat.
