Luanda — The senior male basketball team of 1º de Agosto enrolled 13 athletes for the preliminary phase (zone VI) of the African champion clubs cup to take place in Zambia, from November 1-9 this year, Angop learnt Thursday.

The news is the inclusion of young playmaker Adilson Manuel from the senior male basketball team of Lusíada University, on a list comprising Miguel Lutonda, Carlos Almeida, Mayzer Alexandre, Armando Costa, Olímpio Cipriano, Vlademir Ricardino, Rodrigo Mascarenhas, Francisco Jordão, Kikas Gomes, Pierró Ilunga, Felizardo Ambrósio and Simão João.

The club will train from October 12-24 in the Portuguese Aveiro region, where they will play eight matches with local clubs.

Besides 1º de Agosto, Angola entitled to one more club to participate in the tournament qualifying for the final stage to be played in Tunisia. Petro de Luanda had the right to participate, but refused to play in the competition.

As a result, Atlético Sport Aviação (ASA) showed interest in replacing Petro de Luanda. 1º de Agosto are the competition's title holder.
