Luanda — Angola is among the countries attending the international course on "Integrated water resources management", which started on September 29, in Stockholm, Sweden, under the Project for the Management of the Zambezi River Basin's Water Course.

According to the director for planning and environment of the Division for the Exploitation of the Kwanza Area (Gamek), Rafael Miguel Neto, who is also one of the three participants representing Angola, the course is being promoted by the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The official also said that the meeting aims at promoting an action plan and a regional hydric resources integration strategy, as well as allowing the States to use water in a reasonable manner.

Promoting social, economic and environmental justice for the benefit of current and future generations, providing participants with theory and practical lessons, in order to implement, in their countries of origin, projects aimed at preserve the ecosystem of the Zambezi region, are also part of the course.

Participants to the training are also discussing, among others, topics such as "Water Pollution" and the "Assessment of the Environmental Impact and Control of Water Quality in Hydro-electrical Infrastructures".

The workshop is set to end on October 19, and also gathers 29 others participants from Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, countries that are lie of the Zambezi River Basin.
