Nigeria: NCAA Organises Consumer Awareness Summit at Nigav 2008

Lagos — The 2nd Nigeria International Air Transport Expo and Conference has taken a new dimension this year as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has disclosed interest to organize a traveller consumer awareness summit during the Expo.

According to the organiser of the event, Fortune Idu, NCAA consumer summit is to ensure that Nigerian travellers are kept abreast of their rights when they are infringed upon by airlines and other service providers in the industry.

The summit which will be a televised question and answer session featuring other stakeholder is aimed at further opening the air transport industry to the public with the main objective of increasing confidence in air transportation.

NCAA which has been a listening organisation and has continued to improve the quality of transport delivery in the country, sees this as yet another opportunity to address public demands.

"This addition into NIGAV event, shows how the programme has continued to evolve in meeting the requiremenst of both the stakeholder and the public. Feedback from such forum will greatly improve the industry", said Fortune Idu.

The Expo is open to the public from October 14.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, Nigerian Shippers Council, Alliance/NISSAN Sector Auto Supporter, Heirhier Thermocool Sector Support airport cooling are all expected to participate in this year expo.

Also participating include, MIKANO power support, TSI Camanah Airfield Infrastructure, SIXT NIGERIA Air Passengers Logistics, Sky-bank, Fidelity, Zenith bank sector bankers, Airlines, Virgin Nigeria, Arik ,Dana Air, Aero contractors, Tourvest Duty Free South Africa, Belleview, ASCON, Caverton Helicopters, SAHCOL, Skypower Catering, AMS, Aviation Service Limited, Benue State, Niger State.

Others are, Airline Management Support Ltd, Revilo Aerospace Ltd, OAS Helicopters Ltd, Bank PHB, First Inland Bank, DPR, Capital Airlines Ltd, National Union of Air Transport, and Precision Aviation.

NIGAV 2008 conference will feature key speakers from the industry highlighting how to increase market shares of the air transport industry.

The event with the theme "Aviation gives the economy the wings to fly", will offer a mixture of conferences, workshops and seminars, awards and funfair activities to highlight the vital position of air the transport industry in a supply chain and logistics system in the country.
