South Africa: Lekgothoane Back From Injury

3 October 2008

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to welcome defender Shere Lekgothoane back from injury when they host Golden Arrows in their Absa Premiership game at Atteridgeville's Super Stadium on Saturday.

However, despite the return of Lekgothoane whose place was taken by Namibian defender Sydney Plaatjies in the match against SuperSport United last week, bad news for the Brazilians is that both Lerato Chabangu and Surprise Moriri are still nursing their injuries and are doubtful for the game against Abafana Bes'thende.

Sundowns' communications manager Mahlatse Mphahlele has confirmed that both Chabangu and Moriri have been doing light training on their own.

"They have just recovered and are still training separately from the remainder of squad. Their chances of playing on Saturday are very slim."

Also out of the game against Arrows is striker Sibusiso Zuma, who has not yet recovered from his knee injury.

Mphahlele also told KickOff.com that defender Mbulelo Mabizela was still not back at training this morning.

The Brazilians have been shy in front of goals, but this weekend coach Trott Moloto can put his trust in Mozambican international Dario Monteiro, who scored an equalising goal during game against SuperSport.

Golden Arrows arrive in Tshwane on Saturday without a defeat since the start of the season and coach Manqoba Mngqithi will certainly want to keep his good record intact.

Bafana midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi remains the keyman for the Natalians whilst midfielder Philani Shange keeps knocking on Bafana's door with his exciting performance on the right wing.

Mngqithi will be hoping that the duo will be in great form to take three points back to KwaZulu\Natal on Saturday.

Sundowns have had a stop-start season thus far, only having played two league games. Their second league game against AmaZulu was postponed due to the sudden death of Siyabonga Mkhwanazi.

Furthermore, the confidence of the Tshwane based side will be not be that high as they have stuttered a bit in the beginning of the season: they had to come from behind against SuperSport to claim a 1-1 draw, and prior to that they lost in the MTN8 final to Kaizer Chiefs on penalties.

Abafana Bes'thende, on the other hand, have had a fairly good start to the season considering they finished mid-table in the Premier League last year: they walked away with a 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates in their first game and have drawn their two matches following that claiming a total of five points out of a possible nine.
