Monrovia — President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was Thursday among several African and other world leaders attending celebrations marking 50th independence anniversary of neighboring Guinea.
An Executive Mansion release says, the President used the occasion to reaffirm Liberia's commitment to solidifying the already strong bond of mutual friendship between Liberia and Guinea.
Liberia played a crucial role during and after the liberation of Guinea from French colonial rule in the mid 1950s.
The President, who was invited to the occasion upon the invitation of Guinean President Lansana Conteh, returned home Thursday following the one day visit.
