Kampala — At least seven people, including two Ugandans, have been confirmed dead in a bus accident that occurred in the mountainous areas near the Uganda-Sudan border on Tuesday afternoon.
Frank Mugabi reports that the Nation Dit coach had left Kampala with mainly business persons on board.
It was heading to the South Sudan capital of Juba when it overturned on top of Gordon Hill, about 5km to the Sudanese border town of Nimule.
The Atyak border security officer, Dennis Olila, who visited the scene on Wednesday with other Uganda officials from Gulu town, said the cause of the accident was still unknown.
"Some people say that the bus collided with a trailer at a narrow section of the hilly road," Olila said. He added that the bus plunged 80m down the valley.
The two Ugandans were the driver, muhammed Shaban and a Kampala businessman who is yet to be identified. The other five victims were Sudanese nationals.
