Harare — FORMER national cricket team captain Tatenda Taibu on Tuesday manhandled Zimbabwe Cricket general manager (finance and administration), Mrs Esther Lupepe demanding that he be paid his money.
It is understood that Taibu wants ZC to reimburse him expenses he incurred when he took his wife and son along during Zimbabwe's tour of Pakistan last year.
However, the ZC is believed to be against the demand as it would mean preferential treatment for Taibu, as such a facility simply does not exist.
Taibu reported Avondale Police Station following the incident, which took place at a travel agent in the Avenues area.
The talented wicketkeeper/batsman is not known for violent conduct and has been one of the world's admirable sportsmen once on the field of cricket and Tuesday's incident took eyewitnesses by surprise.
Eyewitnesses say Mrs Lupepe was at the travel agent presumably to finalise the national team's travel arrangements for the trips to Canada and Kenya.
Taibu then arrived there and confronted Mrs Lupepe, asking why his money has not been reimbursed, shouting "where is my money?"
In a brief statement, ZC media and communications manager, Lovemore Banda confirmed the incident saying they will be following a laid down procedure.
"There was such an incident and it is being investigated and attended to in accordance with our procedure," said Banda.
This therefore explains why Taibu is part of the Zimbabwe team for a four-nations Twenty20 tournament in Canada and the triangular one-day series in Kenya.
The ZC (investigation) process looks set to take long and removing him from the squad at this stage would mean the authourities are pre-judging.
