After many weeks of uncertainty on his future, Englishman Eddie May has confirmed to KickOff.com that he has quit as Black Leopards' technical director.
May, who was just two months at Leopards in his second spell, says he has thrown in the towel due to family problems.
"I'm not returning to South Africa. I told the chairman David Thidiela that my father-in-law is still ill and I won't be coming back. We agreed that if I can't return now then I can come back next year in February," the Englishman said from England.
While May was quoted as saying he was in UK attending to an ill wife, the 65-year-old had earlier told KickOff.com's correspondent in Malawi that he was attending a funeral.
He now says it is his father-in-law who is ill.
The well-traveled May was also linked with a move to Leopards last year but he disappeared a few days after appearing to be settling.
He returned to South Africa last year after an equally short and controversial spell with Bush Bucks some years back.
May has coached clubs in Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. He also served Charlton Athletics as an assistant coach.
Lidoda Duvha brand manager Tshifhiwa 'Chief' Thidiela earlier told KickOff.com that life is still going on at the club despite the absence of May who has been given compassionate leave to attend to his sick wife.
"How many teams operate with technical advisors? May's absence does not have much effect at the club as we still have a very good technical team in Joel Masutha and Wonani Mulaudzi.
"At this moment, we don't know when May is going to return, so we will just have to wait and see," Thidiela was quoted as saying.
