Kampala — PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has called on veterans from Bugisu sub-region to participate in the government's prosperity-for-all programme aimed at improving household incomes.
The President made the call during a meeting with the veterans at State House Entebbe on Wednesday.
A State House statement issued yesterday said during the meeting, the President informed his guests that sh148b had beeen released this financial year to enable Ugandans commercialise their agricultural projects through the National Agricultural Advisory Services and the Savings and Credit Cooperatives.
Another sh10b, he said, would be allocated to veterans in the national budget to enhance their income-generating projects.
Museveni said he was happy that a good number of people in Bugisu had started earning good income through commercial farming.
He encouraged them to emulate the prosperous disciples of the Bonna Bagaggawale programme in order to banish poverty in their homes.
He pledged 10 dairy cows to members of Elgon 13, a veterans' group, to help them improve their income base.
