Barely forty-nine days since announcing its presence on Ghanaian soil after successfully getting the nod by the nation's Parliament to begin full operations, Vodafone-GT has been working vehemently to improve its services to benefit its clientele.
With a timely-bound action plan to address the challenges confronting the company, it (Vodafone-GT) has identified specific activities that it aims to implement over the next three months in order to extend coverage to reach more Ghanaians, enhance the capacity of the network and also to achieve a significant increase in service quality.
After a month of its presence in the country, Vodafone-GT has made inroads in executing a number of upgrades and capacity enhancement schemes which includes the expansion of capacity of the IN by 70%, installation of NgHLR to match the enchanced capacity on the IN, additional capacity at Madina, Dansoman, Teshie-Nungua, Tema A and B exchanges and increased throughput for Broadband4U customers in the Western Region.
Additionally, the company has made clearance of 80% of the backlog of installations for corporate customers, introduction of new high quality Broadband4U modems, provision of 15,000 additional fixed lines at Accra West, Accra East and Kumasi and the reduction of fault levels at Madina exchange by 95%.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Major Albert B. Don-Chebe (rtd), Head of Corporate Communications and Customer Care of the company and released in Accra recently.
Poised to enable majority of Ghanaians to enjoy its services, Vodafone-GT has offered its prospective Broadband4U subscribers a whooping 50% reduction in installation fees from GH¢90 to GH¢45 plus free installation, effective September 24, 2008, till the end of December 2008.
The company has also focused its attention on building capacity of its workforce during the last thirty days. During the period under review according to the statement, a number of GT employees have benefited from professional training at other Vodafone operations in Germany, United Kingdom and Spain.
