Angola: Music Does Not Guarantee Stability - Singer Filipe Mukenga

Luanda — Angolan singer Filipe Mukenga this Friday here said that the musical career in Angola does not offer guarantee of sustainability to its followers.

Speaking to ANGOP, the musician affirmed that there is still a long road to follow in order for his colleagues to have a life worthy of the profession they have.

To achieve this desire, Mukenga explains that the Angolan music market should be transformed into a "musical industry", so that each artist can live from his profession without the need of depending on the assistance of third parties to cover their expenses.

According to the source, the creation of more music publishing companies, show rooms, firms specialised in sound and lighting, as well as CD factories, will contribute to the musician's development, and consequently, to the progress of the Angolan musician.

Filipe Mukenga's declarations emerge at a stage when the Angolan society is witnessing the critical health state of singer Mamborró, who appealed on Sunday (September 28), for aid from local institutions to combat the disease he is suffering from, diabetes.

In the same situation as Mamborró where some musicians such as Pirica Duia, of Maravilha Band, Nany, Virgílio Fire, Filipe Mukenga and Turbo de Almeida, who, whilst ill, had to appeal to the society in order to cover their treatment fees.
