Luanda — Luanda Province culture department director, Manuel Sebastião, advised on Thursday in Luanda representatives of carnival groups to prepare better their songs and costumes for Carnival 2009.
In an interview to the press, in the sidelines of a seminar entitled "Workshop about Carnival Song Book", Manuel Sebastião reminded that Carnival is Angolan people's biggest cultural manifestation, thus requiring better preparations.
"The carnival involves participation of people in every class, from intellectuals to other sensibilities", he stated.
According to the director, the Carnival has been giving a big contribution to Angolan culture, reason why we thought it was necessary to organise this seminar, to find ways to solve problems affecting the dance groups.
The seminar aims at collecting Carnival songs, analysing them, identifying similarities and differences among them, describing the context in which many of them were composed and sung and making formal analysis and semantic of lyrics and songs.
