Luanda — The new Angolan government officials were this Friday morning sworn in by the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, at the Presidential Palace.
The new government, whose prime minister is Paulo Kassoma, has 33 ministers and two secretaries of State.
During the ceremony, the Head of State called for the executive's engagement in carrying out their duties so as to implement the government's programme.
The Statesman called for more work and less speeches from the part of the ministers.
From the amount, women hold 28,5 percent, what confirms the ruling MPLA party's intention to overcome the 30% average recommended by the Southern African Development Community (SADC), whilst deputy ministers still need to be sworn in.
Debut ministers are those of Foreign Affairs, Assunção Afonso dos Anjos, of Economy, Manuel Nunes Júnior, of Justice, Guilhermina da Costa Prata, of Finance, Severim de Morais and of Trade, Idalina Valente.
Also debuting in the central government are the ministers of Hotel and Tourism, of Geology and Mining, of Science and Technology and of Energy, respectively Pedro Mutinde, Mankenda Ambroise, Maria Cândida Teixeira and Emanuela Veira Lopes, as well as José Carvalho da Rocha, of Telecommunication and Information Technology, José Vieira Dias Van-Dúnem, of Health, and Rosa Cruz e Silva, of Culture.
Novelty also falls to the ministers of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva da Conceição Lino, of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, and of the Secretary of state for Rural Development, Maria Filomena Delgado.
