Kenya: Row Hits Council Over Trip to India for Talks

Nation Correspondent

Nairobi — A row is simmering at the municipal council over the mayor's nomination of an alleged ally to attend an energy conference in India.

There has been tension for the past three days after Cllr Lazarus Nyauke nominated the chairman of a committee that does not pertain to energy, to go for the trip.

Most of the councillors, including the deputy mayor, Mr Shem Orina Ochene, are said to be opposed to the move and demanded that either a council technical officer or the environment committee chairman represent the council.
