Nigeria: Spiritual Change Necessary for Country to Develop - Chris

Lagos — For Nigeria to develop and be free from corruption, the mindset of citizens must be changed through the word of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the founder of Christ Embassy Church has said.

Oyakhilome who in Lagos during the church's Reach out Campaign 2008 spoke through the director zone one, Christ Embassy Church, Pastor Lanre Alabi.

He noted that the campaign is to stir attitudinal change among Nigerians to begin to contribute positively to Nigeria as a nation.

According to him, many Nigerians want to change but many do not know how hence the need to guide them constructively through the word of God.

Oyakhilome said at least 10 million copies of the church's daily devotional, Rhapsodies of Realities, would be shared to Nigerians across the country as a constructive platform to redirect their spiritual life so they can contribute to the development of the nation.

He said the impact will be monumental now and in the future. He encouraged Nigerians to be positive about their country and contribute to its growth.

"If you don't feel good about Nigeria, you would not contribute to its development," he said.

Church members clad in green white green attire walked through the major streets of Lagos distri-buting the daily devotional guide free of charge. He said the exercise was held simultaneously across the country, including Abuja.

Oyakhilome also prayed for the nation, President Umaru Yar'adua, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, governors and all political office holders-that God should guide them alright in their decisions.

The church also prayed for the nation, security agencies, youths and students for God's guidance and protection.
