Angola: Improvement of People's Living Standards Tops Priority - Economy Minister

Luanda — Angolan minister of Economy, Manuel Nunes Júnior, sworn in last Friday in Luanda, considered the improvement of the population's living standards as the priority of his sector for the four-year term.

According to Manuel Nunes Júnior, his recently created ministry is responsible for co-ordinating global economic policies, through teamwork integrating the Ministries of Finance, Planning, Public Administration, Employment and Social Security and Angola's Reserve Bank.

Creating more jobs, as well as developing areas that have to do with food self-sufficiency, housing, improvement of health services and others related to the quality of people's life, in the light of the implementation of the governance programme proposed by the ruling MPLA party for the next years.

He explained that the governing action "will be focussed on the areas with direct impact to the population's lives making each Angolan citizen feel that his living standard is improving".
