Angola: Top Ten Promotes Angolan Music - Minister

Luanda — The minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, said Friday in Luanda that the "Top dos Mais Queridos" top-ten music contest is an exercise of promotion of the Angolan music.

Speaking to the press at the end of the 2008 edition of the contest organised by the State-owned Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA) broadcasting Station, Rosa Cruz e Silva said the fact that the winner is found through voting by the public translates the importance attached to the national culture.

"From what we could see, we understand that the final standing results from the RNA listeners voting and the lovers of the Angolan music, which means that the message of the Angolan authorities has been put across, giving people the chance to opt," she said.

Rosa Cruz e Silva said her sector will attach a special attention to music in the coming four years and urged for a hard work in order for it to reach all corners of the country.

The gala of award of the "Top dos Mais Queridos 2008" won by Maya Cool had the participation of 10 finalists.

The show also served to honour the Angolan late musician, Teta Lando, who passed away in July this year.
