Angola: New Government Members Outline Goals for Next Four Years

5 October 2008

Luanda — The new minister of Science and Technology, Cândida Teixeira, pointed out as first action of her mandate the study about the "dossiers" and the capacity of the existing staff in the sector, aiming at boosting the scientific research.

The Cabinet minister, who was speaking to Angop on Friday, on the sidelines of the swearing in ceremony of the new Angolan Government, said that the research will count on the services of the institutes of veterinary and fishing research and other institutions in order to fight against hunger and poverty as part of the government programme for the next four years.

On his turn, the State secretary for Higher Education, Adão Gaspar Pereira do Nascimento, pointed out as the main challenge of his term the mobilisation of technicians and staff in order to engage the teaching institutions in the achievement of strategic goals outlined by the Government.

"The time is short, but we think that the mobilisation of staff and technicians will make us a group engaged and focused on the accomplishment of the plan superiorly outlined, which is the main challenge", underlined Adão do Nascimento.
