Nigeria: ICPC Quizzes Offa Poly Rector

4 October 2008

Lagos — Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had quizzed the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, Dr. Mufutan Latinwo among other officials.

The anti-graft body also quizzed the institution's Registrar, Mr. Olatona, the acting Bursar, Mr. Paul Enimola and the Director of Works and Services for alleged financial malpractices.

In a statement by the ICPC, the operatives of the commission stormed the institution following the petition received by the anti-corruption agency. The petition borders on the alleged violation of sections of the ICPC Act.

The management of the institution was accused of purchasing an official vehicle not budgeted for in the capital budget of the institution.

Moreover, the building of the School of Business and Management Studies at the permanent site of the institution was alleged to have been over-valued and the electronic payment of school fees and purchase of admission forms was shrouded in secrecy.

The officials of the institution were quizzed by the operatives of the commission, while investigation into the matter is on-going.
