The people of Nasarawa State have been commended for maintaining the peace in the past couple of years.
Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma gave the commendation when the Emir of Lafia, Dr. Isa Mustapha Agwai I, paid him a Sallah homage, Sunday.
Governor Doma commended the leadership role the Emir of Lafia had been playing in sustaining harmonious and peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups and diverse religious interests, in the state.
The governor, while praising the efforts of community leaders, opinion moulders and Islamic and Christian leaders also commended their followerships for embracing peace in the overall interest of the state.
Earlier, the Emir, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai I, said he was in Government House to pay the traditional Sallah homage and to congratulate Doma on his elevation from the traditional title of Garkuwa to Madaucin Doma, which the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmad Oga bestowed on him recently.
The Emir, who is also the president, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, said the governor's new title was well-deserved.
