THE Zimbabwe Tourism Authority last week held the Sanganai stakeholders meeting as preparations for the Sanganai World Travel and Tourism Africa Fair to be held for the first time in Bulawayo from the 15th to the 19th of this month gather momentum.

Discussed at the meeting were issues to do with accommodation of visitors and exhibitors, transport and logistics, market- ing collateral of local com- panies, stand manning and construction.

Speaking at the meeting, ZTA chief executive Mr Karikoga Kaseke called on all stakeholders in the industry to work together to make the fair a success and commended tour operators for their co-operation ahead of the event.

"Remember this is our industry and we are the ones to benefit at the end of the day so it is imperative that we pull all our efforts together to achieve optimum success in this fair," he said.

He also warned hoteliers who are apparently charging unjustified rates saying it will only help in sabotaging the event.

Rainbow Towers Group, Afri-can Sun and Cresta Hospitality are reported to be charging between $7,5 million to $11 million for a single breakfast meal.

Representatives of the hotels who attended the meeting however, pledged their full support towards the fair as far as accommodation and meals at reasonable rates were concerned.

"Its our wish that Sanganai becomes a bigger and successful travel fair and we promise to come up as a team all the way and do our best," said Emily Humba, sales and marketing manager for Cresta Hospitality.

Accommodation for exhibitors and visitors shall be provided by hotels in Bulawayo and approved university residents for example, Solusi University and selected private residents whose owners have been consulted by ZTA.

Transport shall be provided by tour operators which include Showman Tours and fuel for the shuttle buses for visitors and exhibitors shall be availed by ZTA.

ZTA said local firms taking part at the fair have appropriate marketing collaterals in order to present their companies to buyers in a professional manner.
