Harare — Eric Moyo, the East and Southern Africa Idols winner is in South Africa recording his debut album with SonyBMG.
Apparently, SonyBMG is one of the biggest recording company in the continent with links in Europe and America.
An official from Multichoice Zimbabwe, Liz Dziva confirmed that Eric was busy working in studio.
"He left for South Africa to record his first album," Liz said.
Eric landed the contract as part of his prize for coming tops in the Idols East and Southern Africa singing contest.
Besides winning the contract, he also walked away with US$80 000, becoming the first Zimbabwean to win big in a reality show.
However, Zimbabweans who dominated the top 10 in the contest put up splendid performances although Eric had to shrug off stiff competition from Uganda's Nicollette who came second in the competition.
The 26-year-old Eric, who was the first runner up in the inaugural CBZ A Academy in 2006 proved popular among African viewers as he sported his trademark Afro-hair style.
Some of the former CBZ A Academy finalists who made it to the Idols competition include Samkeliso Uneya and Jonah Sithole who bowed out in the first leg.
