Nigeria: Nda Graduates 9,029 Officers in 44 Years

Lagos — The Nigerian Defence Acadmey (NDA) Kaduna said at the weekend that 9,029 officers have graduated from the institution since its inception in January 1964.

The Acting Commandant of the Academy, Air Vice Marshal Jon Ode, disclosed this at the passing out ceremony of 198 cadet officers of the 56th Regular Course.

Ode said that of the 9,029 officers, 2,562 cadets passed out with degrees in various disciplines.

He said that of the 9,029 graduates, 8,685 were Nigerians, and 344 foreigners.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also reports that seven outstanding officers received various honours awards, with Emmanuel Gyang emerging as the overall best cadet officer.

Gyang was awarded the Sword of Honour, Indian Cup and Gold Medal, while cadet officers A. S. Adamu and A.G. Audu also bagged Gold Medal awards.

Cadet officers who received the Silver medal awards were I. H. Liman and S. Nenshi , while the Commandant's Special Award went to ASUO L. A. Hayat.

Similarly, 68 officers were recognised at the colourful event as various winners of honour since the establishment of the institution.

Former Head of State retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon, former Minister of Defence, retired Gen. T. Y. Danjuma and Gov. Namadi Sambo of Kaduna State as well as all the service chiefs and commandants of various units graced the ceremony.
