The First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar'Adua, has directed the postponement of the inauguration of her pet project, Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF).
It was billed for inauguration on October 11.
The National Co-ordinator of the project, Mr Muttaka Rabe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Abuja that a new date for the launch would be announced later.
He said that though the NGO had done a lot since its inception about two years ago, there was a need to formally present it to the public.
"WAYEF has achieved a lot in providing assistance in various ways, especially to women and youths since its inception about two years ago," Rabe said.
He said that WAYEF had identified five main areas of intervention for the less privileged women and the youth in the country.
These, he said, were health intervention, educational and social services, hope for the less privileged, agriculture and environmental control.
Rabe said thousands of Nigerians have so far benefited from the Health Intervention programme, especially in cataract removal, maternal and child health
